By choosing ethikabio products, you are supporting fair trade.
We choose to promote health, end to end. That means we care about the well being of everyone behind each step on the production and sales chain of our honey. That’s why we practice fair trade.
Our starting points are respecting the value of the small family farmer’s labor and strengthening their community, supporting actions that protect the environment and valuing local trade.
Our main partners are small scale beekeepers from the countryside of northeastern Brazil. We offer them 20% higher pay than the market average, and part of that amount goes to ecosocial projects that have a local impact and are closely followed by ethikabio, such as:
In Switzerland, where we bottle Apimiel – Brusio GR and distribute our honey, we generate jobs and strengthen local trade, working with direct distribution through farmer’s markets and small businesses.

WHO ARE WE
ethikabio is the result of 40 years of beekeeping passion from a Swiss-brazilian family that dedicates itself to apiculture in harmony with nature and with people.
Our long history in beekeeping is characterized by our building of an innovative business model, guided by a commitment to facing the challenges of social inequality and the preservation of the environment.
Our purpose is to bring health to everyone: to the families who can enjoy the benefits of unique, organic and residue free honey; and to the beekeepers, their families and communities, who can prosper and liver healthier lives through their beekeeping work.

FAIRTRADE
We work together with nature: our production is conjoined to the natural cycles of the ecosystems where we work. Besides harvesting honey, we invest with the beekeepers in ecological awareness projects and preservation of native landscapes.
We value the protection of our bees: the beekeeping we practice respects bees’ nature, their biological cycles and their capacity to produce natural and healthy food. Preserving the swarms and avoiding straining our bees is the basic rule we follow in every step of production.
We value our beekeepers: we meticulously select our partner beekeepers, compensating them for their work at a 20% higher rate than the market average and directing part of that pay to social and environmental betterment projects, approved and monitored by the curatorship of the ethikabio council.
We value the beekeeping community: we strengthen local communities with social projects and by practicing fair trade with the beekeepers.
We value local trade: we practice fair trade in all steps of our work, which is why, when it comes to sales, we prioritize distributing our products through partnerships with local commerce.
We value the production of high quality honey: our beekeepers work in native woodland areas far away from conventional agricultural activities, guaranteeing a premium, organic, residue free and certified product.
We value transparency and traceability: all honey produced by ethikabio is carefully cataloged so it can be traced, and it is stored according to safety and hygiene standards set by international certifying organizations.
We value recycling our packages: we bottle our products in Switzerland, and use recyclable packages that minimize environmental damage.
We value your family’s health: the benefits of pure, organic, residue free products, certified by some of the world’s most demanding regulatory organizations, means more health to our customers’ families.

Where our products come from
To produce 100% residue free and quality honey, we’ve selected an area in northeastern Brazil where nature is primeval and preserved. Far away from large industrial farms and urban centers, our production brings together the Caatinga and semi-desert ecosystems of Brazil. And to guarantee the origin of each jar of honey, our production is completely monitored, allowing the consumer to track the product and access precise data about the region and the flowers present in each jar of honey.
